This Mid-Autumn Festival, Kwai Chai Hong is doing what it does best—turning a piece of heritage into the hottest, most magical hangout in town. Say hello to Moonlit Blossom 花月, an immersive art experience that’s equal parts culture, creativity, and “OMG I need this on my feed.”

Forget ordinary lantern strolls as this is a living fairytale. Inspired by the legend of Wu Gang (吳剛), the woodcutter forever stuck trying (and failing) to chop down the mystical Osmanthus Tree (桂花樹), the story unfolds in light, sound, and digital artistry. The message? True success takes more than just intention. It’s about grit, patience, and yes, a little sparkle of beauty that endures against all odds.

“Intentions and actions must go hand in hand,” shares Zeen Chang, Co-Founder of Kwai Chai Hong. “Moonlit Blossom 花月 is our way of reminding people to create, persevere, and keep our culture alive in fresh new ways.

 Step Into The Glow

Your journey begins at the Red Bridge (紅橋), where 100 glowing floral lanterns set the vibe (48 of them floating gracefully right above your head for that perfect selfie). Walk further and bam! A giant glowing moon steals the spotlight.

On one side: Wu Gang’s eternal chopping saga, petals swirling dramatically in the night air. On the other: the ethereal Chang’e (嫦娥) and her sidekick Jade Rabbit (玉兔), keeping watch from the heavens. It’s a dreamscape that feels equal parts myth and Instagram filter.

 Tech Meets Tradition

This isn’t your grandma’s folklore retelling. Thanks to award-winning digital studio Seeing Artelier, led by Wong Si Ying and Chia Yuan Hong, the tale is reimagined with augmented reality and motion design. Translation: the laneway literally comes alive. One scan, one step, and suddenly you’re not just visiting Kwai Chai Hong—you’re inside Wu Gang’s world.

 Beats That Hit Different

And then, there’s the soundtrack. The powerhouse troupe DRUM UP JB transforms Wu Gang’s axe strikes into heart-pounding beats. Think thunder, rhythm, and raw energy shaking the alleyway. Their exclusive live set drops on Sunday, 7 September 2025 at 6PM—a show you’ll feel right down to your bones.

 Feast & Festivities

Of course, no Kwai Chai Hong visit is complete without a food crawl. With 10 must-try eateries just steps away, it’s the perfect excuse to pair your culture fix with dumplings, noodles, and maybe a cocktail or two.
