Yojiro Noda of RADWIMPS Unveils Solo Venture with “WONDER BOY’S AKUMU CLUB”

Fresh off the heels of RADWIMPS’ triumphant world tour in 2024, Yojiro Noda, the band’s iconic frontman, is stepping into the limelight with his highly anticipated solo album, WONDER BOY’S AKUMU CLUB. Scheduled for release on September 25, the album promises a unique journey into Noda’s personal and musical evolution.

Noda, renowned for his distinctive voice and introspective lyrics, introduces his solo endeavor with the poignant track “LAST LOVE LETTER,” a preview of what fans can expect from the upcoming album. The song is now available for listening here.

WONDER BOY’S AKUMU CLUB comprises 13 tracks that encapsulate Noda’s artistic exploration over the past two years. The album features collaborations that highlight his versatility, including “EVERGREEN feat. kZm,” which garnered acclaim for its fusion of Noda’s emotive style with kZm’s dynamic rap. Additionally, the album includes “KATATOKI,” a collaboration with American rapper J.I.D, originally featured on the popular game “Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.”

Reflecting on his solo debut, Noda shares, “I’ve been a part of RADWIMPS since I was 15, and while that remains central to my musical identity, I felt compelled to explore new sonic territories. WONDER BOY’S AKUMU CLUB is a testament to my experimentation and growth as a musician. Each track represents moments of struggle and inspiration, culminating in what I believe is a significant artistic achievement.”

The album’s Limited Edition CD will include a specially designed T-shirt featuring “AKUMU-KUN,” an original character conceptualized by Noda and brought to life by renowned manga artist Posuka Demizu. Designed as a symbol of Noda’s solo project, AKUMU-KUN embodies the album’s spirit with its universal appeal and distinctive persona.
